Teacher Resources: Submit Lesson Plans

Lesson Plan Submission Instructions and Terms

If you would like to submit a lesson plan for consideration of inclusion on the Sustainable Forestry Teacher Resource Center Web site, please follow these instructions.

  • You may submit as many lesson plans as you wish. Your lesson plan should be written so that someone else can understand it, print it out, and use it. It should be written in a format similar to the lesson plans found at this site.
  • Each lesson plan should contain the following parts:
    1. Title
    2. Keywords
    3. Prepared By: (First and Last Name)
    4. Place of Employment (School)/Grades Taught
    5. Lesson Plan Grade Level
    6. Total Time Required
    7. Setting (indoor, classroom, etc.)
    8. Subject(s) Covered
    9. Topic(s) Covered
    10. Goals for the Lesson
    11. Materials Needed
    12. State Standards Addressed
    13. Teaching Model (if one is used)
    14. Methods
    15. Evaluation
    16. Literature Cited
  • We recommend no more than 3-4 pages per lesson plan, not counting any attachments. All plans must be neatly typed, and submitted electronically as an e-mail attachment in MS Word format to Dr. Sanford S. Smith.
  • The methods and the ideas in your lesson need not be uniquely your own, you may adapt something that you feel will work well for the grades that you teach. However, all sources should be cited and credit given to authors of publications used.
  • These lesson plans may be shared with other teachers across the state. Authors retain copyright ownership of lesson plans submitted and accepted for inclusion on the Sustainable Forestry Teacher Resource Center Web site.
  • Sustainable Forestry Teacher Resource Center evaluates all lesson plans submitted for quality and appropriateness. All lesson plans are copyedited before being posted to the site.
  • Lesson plans provided within this collection are for individual classroom and nonprofit educational use only. We reserve the right to publish a summary of each lesson plan in our e-mail notices, newsletters and other publications of Penn State Forest Resources Extension.
  • Thank you, we welcome your interest!
